Buying - Finding a BlackBerry Deal That's Right For You
Up until not very long ago, BlackBerries were seen as mostly business oriented communications devices and not really focused on end consumers. These phones were exceptional PDAs featuring push email, great call quality, very readable displays as well as many other smart phone capabilities like: to-do list manager, alarms, calendars, address books, messaging and more. These handsets also featured excellent security so that communications remain private, exceptional battery life, rugged build quality and very stable. RIM has since broadened their scope and released smartphone handsets aimed at both business as well as casual consumer segments.

The good news is that RIM has not sacrificed their traditional qualities for greater market share. BlackBerry remains the leader in business communications due to the qualities mentioned previously. They simply built on those qualities to add functionality that many consumers have grown accustomed to. Many BlackBerries now feature rich media capabilities, picture and video cameras, video and MP3 playback and more.

The BlackBerry Pearl is the most consumer friendly of the bunch, with a SureType keyboard allowing for a very slim form factor, it has exploded in popularity. It is also the first RIM handset to feature trackball navigation, hence the name "Pearl."

The BlackBerry Curve is the Pearl's bigger cousin. It features all of the same functionalities as the Pearl, but employs a full QWERTY keypad, thus making it slightly wider, yet still very comfortable to use. Different iterations of the Curve offer more features, for example, the 8310 includes GPS navigation while the 8320 features Wifi.

The newer BlackBerry Bold is the most feature rich QWERTY smartphone to date, with 3G wireless speeds, GPS, Wifi, a high resolution screen, improved media capabilities and better / faster web browsing.

The BlackBerry Storm is RIM's answer to the iPhone. It sports the same features as the Bold but ditches the keypad for a full touch screen. This is a big departure from Blackberry's usual form factors, however its well executed touch screen solution makes it a winner.
